From burnout to confusion, here are the challenges that hold student leaders back—but every problem is an opportunity. Here’s how OrgGuide helps.

I want to strengthen my Executive Board, but I don’t want to sound “preachy” or like I’m enforcing a bunch of rules.

You’re not alone—many leaders feel this way. Try using an OrgGuide Curated Presentation, like Executive Board Best Practices, at your first meeting. This reframes the conversation from “my rules” to “our shared learning,” supported by a credible outside resource.

I wish I could talk to someone who’s been in my shoes and actually gets what I’m going through.

Book an OrgGuide Advising Session with a former student leader who’s navigated the same challenges. They’ll provide practical insight, share personal experiences, and offer tailored strategies for your organization—helping you succeed with confidence while avoiding burnout.

I know my leadership role is valuable, but I’m not sure how to explain it to future employers.

OrgGuide Career Development helps you translate your leadership into career-ready skills. Learn to tell your story on a resume, stand out in interviews, and leverage your experience for post-grad success.

It’s hard to know if my Executive Board has an accurate read on the General Body feelings about the organization.

Our signature asset, OrgAssessment, is the best practice for finding your footing as a leader and as an overall organization. Assess everything from your Executive Board’s relationship to the General Body to how you organization compares to others of a similar category/size. From there, we’ll identify your priority areas and equip you with resources to tackle them.

Asset Highlight:

How It Works:

  • Gather data through 3 different inputs on the effectiveness of your organization across key characteristics.

  • Score the level of importance each characteristic within the context of your organization and your leadership philosophy.

  • Get a custom report that includes top growth areas, benchmarking data, and your board’s blind spots.

  • Receive recommended next steps and resources to get started based on your urgent areas for growth.

  • Work with one of our mentors (former student leaders) to debrief the results and discuss your next steps.

3 Different Inputs:

Individual Input

Take the self-assessment to grade your organization’s current effectiveness in key characteristics. There is also a private section to reflect on your own leadership.

Executive Board Group Discussion

A great exercise for your Executive Board is to go through the assessment as a group discussion with one input. It allows your team to learn from each other’s perspectives.

Ensure all voices are heard by collecting data from across your general body membership. Most organizations chose to offer this anonymously.
